Yes — at our chosen institutions. We partner only with JCI-accredited hospitals (the same international standard used to vet leading American hospitals) and surgeons with substantial international training, often at Mayo, Johns Hopkins, Cleveland Clinic, or top European centers. Many of our partner hospitals publish surgical volumes and outcomes that exceed those of comparable Western institutions, particularly for high-volume procedures like joint replacement, cataract, and spinal surgery.
Every clinician you meet — surgeon, anesthesiologist, primary nurse — is selected for clinical English proficiency. For everything else, a dedicated bilingual concierge stays with you from arrival through discharge, including during ward rounds, consent discussions, and recovery check-ins. You will never be in a clinical conversation you don't fully understand.
For most travelers, no. China currently offers visa-free entry for citizens of many countries (including most of Europe, Australia, and others) for stays up to 30 days. For longer stays or non-eligible passports, we arrange a tourist (L) or, where appropriate, a private affairs (S2) visa — and provide all required hospital invitation letters. Jade Crane handles the paperwork end-to-end.
It depends on your carrier and procedure. Some US and European insurers — especially those offering medical-tourism riders or international plans — will reimburse procedures performed at JCI-accredited facilities. We provide itemized international-format invoices, surgical reports, and pathology to support claims. We also offer optional travel-medical and complications insurance through our partners (a flat per-trip cost) that covers any unanticipated medical event abroad and, importantly, follow-up care once you return home.
Our protocol has three layers. While you're in-country, complications are managed by your treating institution at no additional surgical cost, with our concierge advocating on your behalf 24/7. The optional Jade Crane complications insurance covers extended stays, return flights, and additional care. Once home, we coordinate with a vetted network of US and European physicians for follow-up imaging, sutures, physical therapy, and any complication management — with your full surgical record translated and shared.
It varies by procedure. Preventive examinations: 2–4 days. Cataract or minor aesthetic procedures: 5–7 days. Knee or hip replacement: 14–21 days. Spinal surgery: 21–28 days. Immunotherapy cycles can be structured around your travel calendar with quarterly visits. Your specialist will recommend the medically appropriate window during consultation, and your itinerary will be designed accordingly.
Our all-in quote includes: pre-trip video consultation, hospital admission, surgical fees, anesthesia, implants or medication, standard post-operative hospital stay, a private recovery hotel of your choice, all in-city transfers, bilingual concierge, visa support, and translated medical records. Excluded: international flights, meals outside the hospital, sightseeing add-ons, and any travel companions' expenses (which we are happy to arrange separately). There are no hidden fees.
Discretion is foundational. Records are kept on encrypted servers and shared only with parties you authorize. Public-figure clients can book under nominee names, with private hospital wings and back-entrance arrivals. Aesthetic and elective procedures are coded generically on travel documents. Your trip will not appear on any public ledger, and we never publish testimonials or photographs without explicit permission.
Three filters. First, institutional: JCI accreditation or equivalent, plus published surgical volumes and complication rates that meet or exceed Western benchmarks. Second, individual: every surgeon we recommend has international training, board certification in their specialty, and a minimum five-year track record we can verify. Third, experiential: our medical director personally visits every partner institution and operates a continuous patient-feedback loop. Hospitals that don't meet our standards are quietly removed.
